BUMMED...

My original post was going to be about me, and how upset I was that Mike didn't get to call tonight. He always calls on Tues. and Thurs. nights to check in. Today was the day they were to find out about their assignments and was a day we have been looking forward to for 3 months. But when I began to type, I realized how selfish that was and how ridiculous it was for me to be upset about something so petty, when there are so many other people who have REAL problems! And so what began about me, turned into this:

Today was one of those days as an educator when your heart is completely broken. As teachers, we are close to so many children, and some, spend more time with us than with their parents. It is hard to not want to save the world and when I began teaching, that is exactly what I wanted to do. However, we know it is not humanly possible to do that, but is still a very difficult pill to swallow. Those kids are your family, and you hurt when they hurt, you cry when they cry, and you celebrate when they celebrate.

This morning, we got word that a mother of two of our students was killed in a car accident. It literally made me weak all over when I heard the news, but what really got me, was when I heard the cries echoing throughout the school of the little girl who had just learned the tragic news. It was a reality check for me, not a good one, but still made me stop and think how lucky I am. I am sure when those children left for school this morning, they never imagined that their mother would not be there when they got home.

When you think you have problems, there is always someone else whose troubles are bigger. It is a time like this, that will make a family, school, and community come together. Anyone who knows our school and the community of Morrison, knows that there are no better people anywhere on the face of this earth! Please keep this family in your prayers. They are definitely going to need them!

My mom=Martha!!

Here are some pictures of my mantle, planters and scarecrow on my front porch. My mom came over yesterday afternoon and helped me with my fall "decor". She and Paula are very talented when it comes to decorating and have helped me get everything put together! Thanks girls! I Love You both!!!!

Bath Time...

Here are some pictures from tonight's bath. Saturday nights are always bath nights because it is much easier the night before church! That way I am not so rushed trying to get to Sunday School. I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Please keep the Hulet Family in your prayers. Carl was a wonderful man who was loved by many. Mrs. Carla, his daughter, is our secretary at Morrison and is the BEST. And I have had his grandchildren in class; they are a special family! We are praying for you during this time of sorrow!

Soccer

This weekend was busy, as usual! Arden had a soccer game and pictures on Saturday morning, and she insisted on making another birthday cake for her birthday. Keep in mind her birthday was the 12th, but we didn't have an actual party. And let me tell you, she didn't let me forget! So we made the cake and had small party, for her and Uncle Danny, during the UT game (slaughter). Here is the cake that she and Regan made. Uncle Danny was in town helping Kirby and Wes move into their new house, and since his birthday was on the 5th, he got to celebrate too!

Mike is doing great in the academy! He is beginning week 8, so he is almost halfway done! He will find out next week where he will be assigned! We can't wait for that big news! This is a very exciting time in our lives...stressful for me being here all week alone with the kids, but exciting that he will be doing what he loves!

Channing is growing like a weed!! We went to the Dr. for her 4 month check up and she weighs almost 17lbs and is 24 inches long! She is absolutely precious and laughs ALL THE TIME!!! She is a beauty, just like her big sister! I will post some pictures in the next few days. She is a little camera shy!!:)

I hope everyone has a great week!

Mim and Arden
Thursday night I surprised Arden and took her and some of her friends to see Disney on Ice. I bought the tickets back in July, and didn't tell her about it until we got into Nashville. All of the kids thought we were going to the fair and still didn't catch on, even after being in the car for so long and on the interstate. I wish I could have taken a picture of their faces when I told them what we were doing. It was priceless! We had a great time and the kids loved it! Arden and I made her and Andy a birthday cake on Wednesday night since his birthday was on Monday. Friday was her actual birthday so we went to Chuck E Cheese after Channing's Dr.'s appt. We never eat there because we HATE their pizza, so we met Mim at Macaroni Grill and had her birthday lunch. Friday night, of course, we hit up the fair with Kirby, Regan and Connor. She and her daddy got to spend some quality time together and I got to watch! :) We had a great time, but were exhausted on Saturday. Here are some pictures from our week! I am ready for some normalcy around here! I hope everyone had a great week!

Happy Birthday Andy!

Today is Arden's best "boy" friend's birthday. They have been best buds since the beginning of last year. They both swear that they are not girlfriend/boyfriend, but you would never know it from the way they act. I know when I see Arden coming down the hall at school, Andy is somewhere close by. This is a picture of them after the Valentine Pageant. He was the only usher she would walk with...

The Fair is here!!

Today marks the beginning of the fair! Ahhh, the memories. When I was a child, it was the time of the year that I couldn't wait for. I loved going with my friends and hanging out. We never really rode that many rides. Most of the time it was just a big social gathering and a time to see all the cute guys. :) Now that I am older, it has a whole new meaning. It is no longer about me and what I like, it is only about Arden. And when Channing is old enough, she will enjoy it too. We are not going tonight because I am too tired. We will go tomorrow night and see what we can get into, but tonight I am staying far away!! Arden's birthday is Friday, so after Channing's Dr's appt. and when Mike gets home, we will make our way over to fight the crowds. Nothing like trying to push a stroller through a sea of people!
If you have a favorite memory, please share! I would love to hear it!
