Giving up her crown...

Tonight was the Little Miss Valentine Pageant. It is sponsored by the Morrison Ruritan and it is always a great event. Arden had to crown the 2009 winner tonight. She was so excited and couldn't understand why she couldn't be in it again. All of the little girls were precious, of course I had a few favorites. Here are a few pics from tonight.

I also cut about 8-9 inches off of my hair today, and anyone that knows me, knows this was a decision that I did not take lightly. I was ready to do something new, and really like it, even though I feel kind of "naked" without all of that hair hanging on my neck. :)

Mommy and her "toothless" princess!:)

I needed this...

so badly.
Today was one of those days where you feel like no matter how hard you try to do the right thing, it just doesn't work out. Everyone has had those days! These days tend to slip up on me when I least expect them...when I think all is well with the world and then BAM!
Our lesson at church tonight was Phillipians Ch. 4 vs.1-23 I don't think I have ever read this chapter in its entirety, and am really glad that we did tonight. It was just what I needed; it basically tells us to rejoice and be joyful in all we do, not to worry, give our troubles to God, and be considerate at all times. The hardest one for me is worrying. I am a worry wart at heart, but am really going to work on this. I have always heard the quote Phillipians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me", but never really thought about it very much until tonight. It is such a powerful verse and is so true.

Happy Birthday, Auntie!

Today is my sis, Paula's, birthday. I won't say how old she is but my Mike is 9 days older, so you can do the math...well if you know how old he is! :) She has been there for me through thick and thin, good and bad, happy and sad. Our family is so very close and even though she and I were only children, it never seemed that way. We always had each other, and spent every minute together, especially during the summers.

Even when she was way too cool for me (she was 16, I was 13) she took me along on a few yard rolling expeditions (in the pooter car), strip riding and even a couple of her dates. Arden and Channing adore her and she loves them like they are her own. I could go on and on about how great she is, but anyone that knows her, knows it already! We have always shared a bond that is usually only seen in siblings, but anyone that knows us, knows that we love bigger than the average family. I hope her day is a great one and that she knows how much she means to me.

Mike's Birthday/Super Bowl Party

Okay, I know that cake doesn't look as good as if Paula had made it, but she did brag on it and Salem said I might be her future partner! So I think those are pretty good reviews for my first attempt at a catering gig! HEHE!

Here are some pictures from our Super Bowl/Birthday Bash on Sunday night. We had about 30 people here and the food...well, it was great. We had ribs, wings, chicken salad, buffalo chicken dip, summer sausage, chips, crackers, Paula's cookies, pigs in a blanket, cocktail wieners in bbq sauce, and of course a Steelers bday cake. It was a wonderful night of food, fun, family and friends. And what was even better, Mike's team won! He is a die hard Steelers fan, and I totally agree with everyone who says Steeler fans are the most loyal. They are! Mike is from PA, so it is in his blood!

Sorry that I haven't been a very good blogger lately. I haven't posted or commented very much the past few weeks because I haven't had the time. I hope to get back to it when things slow down...whenever that is!:)
